Floating Dock Applications

  • Floating docks are most suitable for small lakes and protected bays. If your beach area is routinely exposed to boat wakes or large waves, a floating dock may not be appropriate.
  • Floating docks may be severely damaged by ice.
  • The most stable floating dock configurations have a "T" or "L" layout or have fingers jutting from the sides
Floating Docks are the perfect solution for sites with deep water, significant water fluctuation or sites where the bottom is too mucky for wheeled docks or standing docks. If the site is exposed to heavy waves or boat wakes, the dock will be less stable. To make floating docks more stable, they should be set in a "T" or and "L" configuration. Heavier and wider dock sections will also add to the stability of a floating dock. Floating docks are best sited in locations where they may remain throughout the year.
